Allergy is a bodily reaction that occurs in people who are sensitive to certain substances. A person can develop an allergy at any time, but in most cases, the first symptoms appear in childhood. Others are eczema on the skin, hives, allergic headaches, and allergic digestive disturbances.
Hypersensitivity is caused by exposure to a particular antigen (allergen) resulting in a marked increase in reactivity to that antigen upon subsequent exposure, sometimes resulting in harmful immunologic consequences. As a result, sinusitis can occur that is the inflammation of the mucous membrane of any sinus, especially of one of the paranasal sinuses.
Allergy usually is caused when the body’s immune system is weakened. The relevant causes for allergy are molds, pollen, cats and dogs, etc. The ideal way to get rid of allergy is by avoiding the allergen. There are allergy tests that can be done under the supervision of an allergist and the specialist might be able to find the allergens and treat accordingly.
With the help of allergy shots, the allergen can be easily suppressed. The person will not be affected by allergy any time when exposed to the allergen. Allergy shots can evidently help reduce the risk of developing asthma and can reduce the further chance of allergy to any other allergen in the future. Allergy shots mainly include the modified form of the allergen. Usually, the shots are given for five years. The dosage will be slowly increased with an alternative monthly dose. Sinusitis is caused usually caused due to the prolonged exposure to allergens. Continuous sneezing and itching occurs and can lead to the accumulations of sputum and sediments in the sinuses. Finally, the sinus is blocked. Incurable headache is the symptoms of acute sinusitis. Sinusitis can be treated with antibiotics when used on a regular basis for about one week. However, again if the allergy is not being treated sinusitis can again occur causing serious problems that can even lead to surgery. Many anti-allergens are available with doctor’s prescription. Allergy becomes a serious problem when it is ignored. If not treated, it can lead to asthma. Children and adults at times have rashes when exposed to certain materials. The rash is another from of allergy. Many ignore it in the initial stages and this can lead to asthma that is very hard to cure.
